It was never just about business

There is so much more behind a business than just the money. There is a purpose, a thought, a desire for more, a need for change. I got started in business for extra money not a complete lifestyle change. I wanted to do better than where I was at the time.

People can only see what is right in front of them. The ones who aren’t afraid to dream are the ones who can see a small gleam of something more.

My goal was to stop the struggling from paycheck to paycheck lifestyle. I was not looking to stand on stages or travel to fun amazing places. I wanted to stop the struggle of living on the edge of just enough.

Fathers Day weekend displayed for me what I was working for came true. It had nothing to do with business and everything to do with the men in my life. It has taken me several days to bring to words what it meant to me.

My husband and I married when my son was 4 years old. He showed up in his life when he was two years old, and 3 months later came to his 3-year-old birthday party. Then we married the next year. He has always been there for him.

My husband was even there in high school standing on the sidelines with my son’s last name on his shirt. He was supporting his son no matter what the last names were.

Father’s Day 2021 brought great joy, gratitude, and many many tears to our family as my son who is 25 gave the court papers to my husband where he changed his last name to Brooks.

As I sat there recording the moment to never be forgotten and to share with family and friends. My heartfelt light, my gratitude was overflowing and this moment changed history for our family.

Just like my business changed how our family is now able to do things. My goals, in the beginning, were small. I needed to overcome one simple problem to stop the struggle.

Changing his last name disconnected him from a generation of not feeling enough for a father who never showed up to one who was always there.

It was never just about business

My business was more than money, it was a lifestyle that was just right for us. I don’t need red bottom shoes or huge houses with all the fancy cars. We are in love with our farm life. Business for me was building a life. A life we now have and it is still getting better. I was once struggling to balance a family and build a business, plus work a job.

The top 7 things I focused on

  • Work from anywhere on my schedule, not someone else’s
  • Never say I can’t be there because of work again.
  • Live a debt-free lifestyle.
  • Travel to the places we choose to go to.
  • Be there for both my boys no matter what they have going on in their life.
  • Sit on the back porch in my favorite rocker to inhale the afternoon sun.
  • Business doesn’t have to look like anybody else’s. It is to serve you and your family how you choose and as you build your lifestyle you are lifting others up at the same time.

“Life is like a coin. You can spend it any way you wish, but you only spend it once.” — Lillian Dickson

How to build a business your way

Stop looking at everyone else’s business asking people who have never gotten out of the start gate how to make it work. Build the basics and do them on repeat. Find your audience, create content in your own style (video, podcast, blog, you choose), Become so visible they can’t miss you. Find your social strategy and turn up the volume. There is no rule book you measure your results by the action that shows up from your work.

You can become a fearless networker and become a network marketing mastery.

Let’s make your belief the shovel that buries fears to be your best you.

You need some skills.

Let’s start those conversations on LinkedIn

If you’re like most network marketers, chances are you’re already spending a lot of time on social media growing it.

And social media is definitely THE way to grow a business these days. It’s amazing when you don’t have to do home parties or do non-stop meetings at coffee shops.

When you show up on repeat people will start to wonder who is this person and lean in. You can’t sit in the shadows and expect business to show up. Become the hunted and not the hunter. If you want to learn the basics in the business get on the LIVE COACHING calls each week.

Dig into Linkedin and find your audience. Whatever you do… get busy. There is more to life than just getting by.

  1. This was such a beautiful powerful blog to read in this season of my own life and business. To not compare your business for the life you dream. I agree, I don’t need or even want the shiny hand bag and spotlight.

I just want my life to look and feel fills me my business in publishing to matter

  2. YES – my life is mine. Business is built around my family and our dream – no other way.
    Enjoy this season
