Why do you need to overhaul your Linkedin profile

Over 600 million LinkedIn users and more than two people join LinkedIn every second.

98% of recruiters and 85% of hiring managers use LinkedIn as a hiring tool.

LinkedIn surpassed Facebook as the #1 most important social platform for B2B marketers.

It has become the number one social media platform where millions of professionals spend their time.

With these types of statistics, you can’t afford to wait one more day without a well-crafted profile.

By taking action now, you will position yourself on the receiving end of multiple top-notch career opportunities.

Please don’t put it off any longer.

If you put this off another 6-12 months, you’ll be in the same spot you are now: frustrated with your job search, spending too much time building relationships with the wrong people, and missing out on potential career opportunities.

Don’t let another day go by with a poorly written, outdated profile. Overhaul your profile now to promote your accomplishments and build your network of targeted professionals.

I know you are ready to take action now!

Linkedin Summary

The summary section is one of the most overlooked sections on LinkedIn.

This is the place to showcase your experience and expertise.

This is where you’ll provide a more in-depth look into who you are, whom you help, and how you help them.

Answer these questions:

  • What type of career are you most passionate about?
  • What drives you most about your ideal career?
  • What are your areas of expertise?
  • What are your personal interests?
  • What volunteer work have you done?
  • What awards have you received?

Using your answers to these questions, compose a few cohesive sentences that depict your passion, drive, expertise, interests, volunteer work, and awards.

Don’t tell your life story here. Keep your sentences short and to the point.

Here’s an example of the first paragraph of my LinkedIn summary:

Career and business strategy is my passion! I am a driven business owner dedicated to teaching business professionals the secrets to finding the perfect career and succeeding in the marketplace.”

Notice the keywords I’ve used… Career, business strategy, business owner, and teaching. Make sure you include keywords that relate to your ideal position.

A few last-minute tips before I turn you loose to craft your own summary:

  • Keep your paragraphs short of implementing good use of white space.
  • Incorporate headers, sub-headers, and bullet points to organize your content.
  • Make use of the 2,000 characters available to increase keyword optimization.
  • Include your email address at the end so others can easily reach you.
