Most likely you are in a business, or thinking about a business, or preparing to be awesome in a business but you haven’t gotten off the fence. You are hanging out on the fence watching from a safe spot where you are but not in. Most people who sit on the fence and collect excuses rarely get down and get moving.
No one likes being uncomfortable? Start a business and tear down the fence. That is the moment that tension is the greatest and you feel like you are going to throw up. It is also the time that most people quit. I find it interesting that most people quit right before the shift can begin to happen or they complain about nothing happening in their business and they are still clinging to the fence.
What’s interesting is that right around the corner — if they could just hang in there — success awaits.
You’ve heard me talk about how amazing this training is. How it’s the first and only business training system that gives you everything you need to grow in exactly the right order.

What a shame to stay stagnant. What a shame to let our dreams pass us by, and one day, realize our best years are behind us.
The time will pass no matter what you choose to do. The time will still move. You may as well do something with your time that can change how life looks.
I have had people on my team get right up to the dotted line where they can rank in their business and want to quit. You have to stay focused in the downtime to get over the hump. If you’re in a business right now, you are somewhere on this chart.
I am always looking for new ways to work my business. It is always changing.
The decision is up to you.
This week I have run some boosted posts on Facebook, which I rarely do. I wanted to do a test collecting data and see what people’s responses would be. It is almost as if they were plugged in together as friends listening to each other’s excuses.
There was no reason for any of them to tell me the excuses they shared. It was a promotion to give away samples to people who were serious and wanted to pay for the shipping. Instead, people told me things like “I will have to wait until I get paid tomorrow”, “I don’t have a checking account”, and “My credit card is full.” Why would you ask for something knowing this in advance?
The interesting thing is they ASK ME for the information knowing this was their problem before they even ask – they still ask – then gave the excuses of why they couldn’t participate when they were required to pay the shipping.
You can always find an excuse or stay on the fence
Am I judging these people? absolutely not. I simply put some information out in the advertising space and people brought them to me. Now don’t get me wrong there were 135 that were serious and took the information and were excited to be in the trial. It was the handful of people who could not afford $4.95 but wanted something anyway. If you would like a sample that they were offered.
If you want to grow, those aren’t the voices you need to listen to.
I will be the first to admit that business can be discouraging. It can really mess with your head if you allow it. That is why I have support groups set up with my business team to give them a place to get encouragement.
Stumbling Blocks for building a business

One of the biggest blocks to building a successful business is stressful. Not just the kind that comes from running the kids to daycare, balancing a full-time job and full-time work around the house. But the kind of stress you just can’t seem to shake at times. The tribe is there to help you learn, and motivate you with other people who are on the same journey as you are.
A list of excuses I have heard are:
- I don’t have the time: When I started I was a bother of two boys who were both in sports and I worked 6 pm-7 AM three times a week. Most of the time on less than 4 hours of sleep. There was no time for sleep and baseball and soccer. Something had to go and that was mine.
- I have no energy: The same as having no desire. I can’t make you want a business. That comes from you. I wanted it so bad I worked in my business 1-2 hours a day even when I wasn’t getting results. I worked tired. I fell asleep on my desk. I wanted it. I was determined.
- I can’t afford a business team: Me either! I started with me, I work with me and I depend on me. When I was building the training course Freedom Foundation. I hired people to help me put it together. Otherwise, I am a one-man (woman) business on the go, with a family, believing in the next rank is around the corner.
- I can’t afford to advertise: If you are in a business and no one knows it but you. You may as well be very honest with yourself that you are not in business. There are many ways to get your information out to the world besides sitting in silence.
- I don’t know anybody: Then it is time to start meeting people. That is where the works “network” marketing come in. I didn’t start my business with a large list and big groups of people to put my products in front of. I had to learn to network. I had to learn to talk to people about the products without being a salesperson. I had to “learn” the keywords.
- Wonder if I am not good at business?: If you are coachable, willing to learn and apply what you are taught. You can do this. It will not happen overnight. It happens faster for some than others. It depends on you and your decision.
Rise to the challenge
I can give you all I have got in strategy, courses, training, systems, tools and walk you to each person you need to talk to to build a business but if you don’t tear down the freaking fence and get off the hump none of it will do you any good.
I am not looking for people with excuses – I am looking for people who have a dream and want to get on track to make them happen. I can be your biggest cheerleader. You have to be your biggest believer.
Today, we’re all standing on the edge of greatness. We have the greatest opportunity in the history of the world to start a business and impact millions.
If you’re ready to invest in yourself and take your business to the next level, PLEASE, don’t wait for “someday.” Don’t wait for the magic day when you suddenly have time or motivation that falls from the sky.
If you start today, you will be on the bottom level. The fact of where you can be in one year can shock you if you get started. If you wait until next year to start you will still start on the bottom level and have to build up. Sooner is better.
