What do I say when they aren’t interested in my opportunity?

A new distributor asked me, “I talked to my best friend about my products. He wasn’t interested in the opportunity or products. What should I say?”

… pause.
… pause.
… pause.

Still, the new distributor wasn’t listening to himself speak.

When you talk about your products and someone is not interested what do you say?

People are not interested in your products, how great they are, how old the company is, how many bottles you own or pretty much anything you have to say about a company. No one wakes up in the morning, stretches, and says I want XYZ products in my house. No one.

What people are interested in – is their own problems. Crazy huh?

The only way a new person/prospect/lead is interested in your product is if it is a solution to their problem. Otherwise, you are talking to the wind.

Do You want to impress someone?

Learn this #1 skill and it will take you to the top of many ladders.

Listen.

Yes. L-I-S-T-E-N.

No one listens to anyone anymore and if you are talking to someone about what excites you they zone out pretty fast. You will change the whole conversation if you listen to what they are telling you. By listening you will hear if what you have to offer is even fit for that person. You may be trying to offer your products to someone who would not use them – or get the value out of them.

No matter how grand they are if they are not going to use them, what good are they?

People feel as if they impressing people by spewing out all the content they can that may sound good to them but in fact. It is more like a turn-off.

To learn how to do this there are some good books I would suggest you check out at the library or purchase to read.

  1. How to Win Friends & Influence People By Dale Carnegie is a book I read when I first started in network marketing and each time I read through it, I highlight something else. It is a book you can reference back too often.
  2. Endless Referrals, Third Edition By Bob Burg – Learn how to get people to ask you for your products make business so much more fun in the retail space. There is a skill we all have to learn in network marketing this book is a good starting point.
