If I had to start my business over again with just my laptop and internet and $500 in cash what would I do differently. The top 10 things I would make sure I knew what my vision and purpose are. I would become clear on who is it I want to become. Who do I want to be known for? Most people get into business because they bought a business kit to join a company from $160 – $4000 but they are not clear on the mission they are in business for or who they want to be known doing.
#1 Your business is not about the company you bought into – it about you and what you have to offer. What you have to show others or teach others.
#2 I would get to the company events sooner even if I had to go alone. Things change in your mindset when you get to the company event, meet people who are working inside the company and dealing with the same struggles you are dealing with. You also get trained from the company itself so you know what tey expect and how they run. It gives you a new connection that will show up in your presentation when you talk about the company to your business leads.
#3 Stop being so cheap. Treat you and your business the way you want it to run. You can learn a lot on FREE – but you can’t get the professional thoughts of someone who is running a 6-figure business and above from a free webinar or a book.
Free is the most expensive option you have in your business education. You can not free your way to the top. The longer you put off getting coaching, or going to events the longer it will take you to see results because you are doing it the wrong way and have to start over or start from the beginning instead of learning how to build a solid platform.
#4 Setup your online infrastructure. There is more to twitter, facebook, linkedIn than just having an account. Learn how to make them lead magnets for your business.
#5 Know who your target market is. You will not get this right the first time you try… and maybe not the 2nd. It will change as you grow and as your business grows. Keep working on this.
#6 Create Content. Lots of content. A piece of content every day. Create content around who you think is your ideal client until you get more focused on who they are.
What is content? A periscope video connected to katch.me, a blog post, facebook post, twitter post, A youtube video (you can upload your periscopes to youtube)
#7 Teach you prospects. Where do you get the content to teach? When you go to an event that you have taken notes. Write a blog post about the event, post pictures you took at the event. When you learn something new – teach it. Share it on periscope.
#8 Prospecting – Your content will be reaching out to people who are looking for what you have to offer, what you blog about, what you use periscope about, it gets you in front of new people who are looking for a leader. A leader teaches.
#9 Teambuilding – Get your teams to events!!! Stop trying to be the one and all – know it all. You can’t be the only one teaching. Get them to events – company events and places they can learn. The more they learn the more confident they will become. It is not someone else’s responsibility to build your business. It is your job to educate, learn, and get to events to learn all you can to run your own business. Stop waiting on other people. That is a mindset issue that needs to be fixed.
#10 Alter your vision as you grow.
This is what I would do if I had to start over. If you are just now getting started or you are not making $500 – $1000 a month. Then you need to be putting the #10 steps in your business. Don’t underestimate the power of being around others in the business. It is who you can meet at events could be someone who shares more eyeballs on your business and connects you with others they know.
The key to Network Marketing…. more eyeballs.
