Prospecting is REJECTION HELL

I am been connected to network marketing for 9 serious years and around 11 where I had no clue what to do or there was a method to the madness.

I was GREEN as they say when it comes to being new to the network marketing circle.

I was at the airport when I got my first sale for my business that I am in today. I had no one to celebrate with but I smiled really big and felt the energy shift.

I remember how hard the beginning was. I didn’t have a warm circle of support and I didn’t have time to do the meetings. On top of not knowing what to talk about at a meeting if I had one.

No one on my friends’ list or family list signed up with my products for another 5 years… yes… 5 years!

Actually, I have had ‘close’ friends call me, text me, and talk to me about my products and how they work. They were interested but ‘didn’t have the money’ was two of the excuses (they bought from someone else). One bought off eBay, another one went to Wal Mart.

I had one friend who joined the business but because she was not doing the work and the follow-ups to get results she jumped ship and joined a friend I introduced her too, in another company. She was my travel buddy, someone I went to events with.

It was a gut punch. Yes, it hurt.

I have had people quit because they felt I should be doing more for them.

It happens every single day in this business.

People are not quitting on me. They quit on themselves and sometimes you have to take a deep breath and remember that. It doesn’t mean it won’t sting.

I have learned (the hard way) not to put to much time in someone who is not doing the simple things. I can teach, I can show, I can help but I can’t do the work for you.

There is nothing easy about hearing the word no 100 times. I can totally understand why a toddler has fits and throws themselves on the floor. Because damnit we all want to hear YES from time to time.

Did you know that a telemarketer who is making 450 phone calls a day (2250 per week) to cold market only signs up about 1% of the people they talk too.

That is 22-30 people out of 2250 who said yes!!

That is a lot of rejection BUT… wonder if you have one or two amazing people in that 30 who can completely change your life in business?

I worked for 25 years in the same hospital week after week for the pay they decided was enough for the job I did. No matter what my skill level was.

In network marketing, I decide how much I want to work and the pay are the results that I get from the efforts I put in.

I won’t lie to you…

It is not easy some days to keep your head up and your eyes dry when everything seems to be going to shit.

What I do know… is I make more than I ever did or would have as a nurse in my business.

I know that I am not finished learning and have more to accomplish with the ones who have sticky power to hang in there with me to build a business and for the people I have not connected with yet.

I am going into my 3rd week of teaching in a masterclass. In 3 weeks people are already leaving the group. They are already complaining, they are already giving excuses why they are not doing the simple steps.

3 weeks in….

  1. Love this one!! It so resonated w/ me and made me realize that others, even top marketers have people say no, jump ship, and more. It’s about THEM, not ME. I just need to keep doing what I’m doing, have a little fit for a short bit, drink a glass of wine, and then get going again.

    I LOVE all of your podcasts Angela. I’m almost done with all of them (wished i’d discovered them sooner!) I love your honesty and cold hard facts about this business. It’s nice to hear, instead of all the sugar coated great stuff only.
