How to keep going when no one is joining your team

Facing Discouragement in Network Marketing-Most people who join a network marketing team expect the ATM to open sooner than the effort they are putting into it. We have all seen and heard the stories of people coming out of nowhere to the top of the money chain. In our mind (and out loud) we are saying how they hell did they do that.

Some people have other big leaders building their business for them and some have moved to your company with a big list of followers who will do what they suggest (the benefits of having a list). In all honesty, it is frustrating!

If you have been in network marketing for a day, you have been told to talk to your friends and family. That topic alone makes people’s skin crawl, and the next one is talking to strangers (another skin crawler) and the biggest one is holding home meetings. If you are a person (like me) who doesn’t throw parties in their home, to begin with, this is a crossroad.

Stop Being “Just a Rep”

Most companies put out tons of training on the products and very little on how to build a business. People will spend 65% of their time learning about the details of a single product and spend very little time learning how to market their business and then wonder why things are not moving faster for them.

Building a business is a mindset. When you enter the space of owning a business you have to push through the things that make you uncomfortable. You have to seek out your own training and put it into action as you learn. I tell my clients in the Marketing Infusion. I am not looking for perfect or pretty. I am looking for action takers.

Get out of your own way

A new business owner will second guess themselves into a frozen state of mind until they are doing no action at all. They are afraid of everything.

  • Afraid they will say something wrong
  • Afraid they will not know what to say to another human asking questions
  • Afraid they will not get the sale
  • Afraid, Afraid… Afraid

How about being honest?

Would you like another cup of coffee? The answer is simple.

If someone asks you a question you don’t know. Say I am not sure but I have a resource I can find out. When they tell you no. It is ok. It is not the end of the world. Be like the waitresses who ask you if you want more pie or more coffee. If the customers she asks wants more they say yes and she pours into their cup. If they say no, she moves to the next table. That is all you have to do. Serve those who want more information and move to the next person if you hear no.

By the way, NO doesn’t mean no forever. It could be no for right now. You have made a connection and planted the seed. Keep filling cups that want more.
