Generating your own leads on Facebook

Most people who struggle with generating their leads is because they are missing a few simple step that is so easy it is hard to believe you miss it when I tell you where to get the answer.

I want to give you a few things to focus on with social media that I see so many people not doing.

Be sociable

Yes… I know you  think I am sociable. The biggest complaint I hear people say about social media is no one comments on their post. When I go to their page and look around, I can see why within seconds. It either looks like their company billboard or they are not posting comments on other people’s wall.

To get a response, you have to chime in on a few of the thousands of conversations that take place a day. If you sound like a used car salesperson, no will stop and chat.

I have friends that have never met in person on facebook, and I know if I was traveling through their town I could stop and have lunch like ole friends do in person. The people I have met on Facebook and we did meet in person were like old friends, and we never missed a beat. It is that powerful.

Ask Questions

Getting a conversation started is as simple as asking “What do you do?” When someone asks to be friends with me on Facebook, the first thing I do before I add them is send them a message to make sure they are not a spam account; I ask how they found me to connect. The conversation is simple as if we met in line at the store. No sales, just good ole conversation to learn about them and see what type person it is.

Speak to people like you would if you were meeting them. Everything is not about business. Sometimes connecting with real people is better than business connections. It is an excellent balance.

Spamming

Stop posting about your company, posting images about products – TV does that.
Stop posting links to your business page with your Distributor ID#
Stop sending private messages with links until they ask, or it is in the conversation that is appropriate.

Share stories!

People love stories, and they will connect to you through those. If you have something you want to share with them simple post “If you want to know what I used to fix XYZ Message me”. Guess what?

They will!

Those are now interested leads that want to hear more from you. Strike up the conversation and provide what they are looking. You will find this to be very rewarding.
