If you are dipping your toe into entrepreneurship water with no plans to succeed, then this blog post is directed at you. This may sound like a little rant and well… it could be.
I want to be super honest with you and know it is coming to you from a loving space and not a better than your space. If you are brand new in business, honest to Pete, I can totally understand the fear you have about moving into the business arena. I have to admit I was scared to death and more afraid of not moving forward because I wanted out of the nursing workspace.
You see I am a recovering burnt out nurse. When I say burnt out I mean fried like Kentucky Fried Chicken. In my early years of nursing, I enjoyed what I did. However, I could always find a reason I wanted to stay home more and not go to work. Even though I was not one of those that called in from work – like ever. It was always on my mind. I didn’t get out of bed skipping to the shower to get ready for work overjoyed with excitement to get there.
When I sit at my desk working from home I get lost in time, I literally have an alarm to go off on my phone so I don’t forget to go get my son at school. I love what I do and enjoy learning how to do it even better. Marketing is my peanut butter and jam.
Dipping your Toe into Entrepreneurship
When someone says they want to ‘try’ the business they are telling themselves they aren’t expecting it to work out for them or if it doesn’t they are preparing to fail. I failed a lot, more than I can count. Everything I did has not worked out and the money was not flowing like an ATM machine.
I found my present company in 2010 by accident. I risk going to a one-day event in Chicago and happen to sit by a lady named Mary who introduced me to the company. Actually, my business coach connected us. I knew nothing about it and had so much to learn but it worked out, in the long run, to reach a leadership position and continue to grow monthly over 1/2 million in volume per month in sales. (take a peek)
You have to commit time to making anything work and 6 weeks is not a commitment. A commitment in 1-2 years of actual work not sitting around waiting on people to find you without any effort. It doesn’t work that way.
The Easy button
Is it easy? No.
Neither is working 12-14 hours a day trying to save up for a family vacation once maybe twice a year, that is, if nothing happens along the way to need the vacation money first.
It was harder for me to clock in and clock out of a job than it has been to learn how to control my own business.
This year alone I have been on 5 trips – 5 days stretches in 5-star hotels. Just 3 years ago I was exhausted, stressed and not happy in debt living paycheck to paycheck. Is business easy? No
Is it worth it? You tell me.
