They called a Code Blue at 5 AM

I was 25 yrs. old.

I had worked at the psychic hospital close to a year. At 11:00 PM I would take over the intercom system for the hospital until 6:00 AM when the switchboard staff clocked in for day shift.

Around 5:00 AM I received a call for a ‘Code Blue’ meaning someone needed medical attention. I ran to the unit to respond to the call since it was literally through one door. I arrived at the doorway of the room at the same time as a co-worker and we opened the door.

What I saw has been carved in my mind for over 20 years.

Clearly…

I can still smell the room, I can still see everything in 3D.

There was a man hanging from the ceiling by his leather boot strings…his yellowish-tan work boots were dangling from his feet. Not only had he been hanging for a long time he had a roommate we had to get out of the room. We held up a sheet and walked a sleepy confused man out of the room.

I hopped up on a chair with a pair of scissors and cut him down.

The next hour was complete chaos, administration, start troopers, moving patients to the next unit. Plus… I had to come back to work that night because the administration didn’t feel we needed the night off. I was told to deal with it and report to work. Not only did I show up at work, but I was also expected to work the unit that the death had occurred on by myself AFTER attending my 32 yr old cousin’s funeral the morning I had gotten off work.

I was traumatized.

Global annual suicide fatalities could rise to over 1.5 million by 2020.

Globally, suicide ranks among the three leading causes of death among those aged 15-44 years.
Attempted suicides are up to 20 times more frequent than completed ones. This is happening DAILY.

WHY am I telling you this?

There is more going on in the world that what you are hearing in the news today.

When you get stressed you don’t use your whole brain. You think from emotions not what is in your best interest.

People talk about “I don’t have time.” “I DON’T HAVE THE money”

Today we all have time … You have the time to learn how to make extra money.

Plan B.

People struggled to pay their bills when they are working full time. Now many are home not getting paid or have lost their jobs altogether, not knowing how they are going to make it through the week much less the month.

Waiting on a stimulus check that will fly through their fingers.

Working part-time at home to earn $1000 a month will keep the lights on in an emergency. $1000 a month can literally change the fear factor from I don’t have to… I have this much.

However, people will jump on the bandwagon to make fun of people who are using power hours a day to build something on the side.

A good job is great – until it’s gone.

You have time to learn something new. A lot of people are talking about not knowing what to do with all the extra time on their hands.

Power Hours for learning.

The world learned about working virtually overnight. I left my nursing job to work at home – virtually 5 yrs. ago.

I am certain very few will read this far. I’m not worried about that. I want to find that one I can help.

The ONE that will make a shift in their life and release the worry.

Suicide has been around much longer than covid-19 and it’s a silent killer that happens in quarantine from worry and stress.

Check on your friends. Especially the strong ones.

When I hear people say money isn’t important.

Try to pay your water bill without it.

We are quarantined and encouraged to stay at home in the middle of the most uncertain economic times in human history…
