Have you ever started the day with a deep breath into just feel thankful? Taking the time to actually breathe in the day before it gets started, the house chores, running the kids to school and activities. Just breathing in.

Business for me has been a blessing and a curse at the same time. It has pushed my level of comfort way overboard to be a leader for those that follow me. I love to learn. I enjoy seeing how things work and what makes them move. Business is like a car that has wheels but you are the motor and the gas that pushes it forward.

As I learn a new skill whether it was read a book, watched a video, from attending a seminar or testing and trying. I want to share it with other people, so I teach.

I have paid a lot of money to gain the knowledge I have in business and I have so much more to learn. Not all the money I spent was paid out in the best places or came out with the best results. Needless to say, I felt like I was donating to the wind a few times. I knew that if I was going to teach people I wanted to give them the tools they needed to succeed and not take their money like some do.

I have bought programs that I may have gotten one or two nuggets out of but nothing to brag about back home to mom. Becoming a leader happens to some quite by accident, like me for example. I wanted to learn marketing because I knew that was how my business was going to grow since I did not fall into the home party pattern well.

I had people following my progress way before I even knew they were because I had my head down working on the fun things I learned from a course. I wanted to find loyal satisfied customers, who knew other loyal satisfied customers to refer my way. I knew I didn’t need to know everything about the comp plan or every detail of the products. I didn’t have to be customer service because in network marketing the company you are an affiliate for takes care of all that for you. I knew I didn’t have to ship products, my company would do that and take care of any shipping errors that always come up.

What I did know was I didn’t even have to leave the house! All I had to do was take action.

As a leader (even though I had no clue at the time) I didn’t tell people to do anything I was not doing myself. If I shared a task or a skill to someone else you could bet your sweet booty I was already doing it.

I was taught from the very beginning to follow a coach or a mentor that had documented success. Not only was that person making money but you could see the results in their actions. (I didn’t pick a few people to follow well but now I know – I learned the hard way)

I was also taught not to make the company you are connected to the only source of your income. I learned the hard way right before I retired (actually retired not quit a job) how much control they have over my income (that is another blog post).

The company you are connected too is a vehicle and if you need to change vehicles your life will still be ok.

What I have learned that no matter how much I love a product, service or a company that my goal is to master marketing so that I am in control of my business and my skills will always belong to me.

Any true leader that you are following I can guarantee has more than one income. If they don’t you need to think hard about getting attached to that person and training. Every coach who wants you to succeed will also make sure you are set up to learn and generate more than one income. In the Marketing Infusion, that is taught. I will not do the work for you. Any good leaders want to see you succeed and outgrow them. I get so excited when I see someone come to me for help and then watch them bust the doors down with their marketing. That is more than a payment reward that is pure happiness because I helped someone change their life.
