How to Build Health, Stay Safe, and Thrive in 2024

Let me tell you about my weekend—and a few things I’ve been up to that you won’t want to miss. If you’ve been following me on Facebook (and if not, what are you waiting for?), you saw some Christmas magic this past weekend.

The very first-ever lighted parade in our town. It was 40 minutes of pure joy: tractors, trucks, golf carts, and yes, even Scooby-Doo and the Grinch. It was the kind of event where strangers cheered together like old friends—and then Santa, riding in on a draft horse wagon, sealed the deal. Christmas cheer delivered.

Then I popped over to the South Union Shaker Village. This place has a family history: my mother-in-law worked in the gift shop and gave tours of the main Shaker house for years.

Fun fact: my husband’s family owned the 1,500-acre farm in the late ’70s. When they sold it, the Shaker Village purchased it to ensure it stayed authentic and wouldn’t get developed. Talk about preserving a legacy!

The Christmas event there was a treat. Here is the Reel I posted on FB.

I met Amanda and Bryan Lorenz, small-business champs behind AandB Soapery. Their lemongrass soaps? Heavenly. They’re hustling their small biz—going from trade show to trade show, sharing their handmade magic. You can support them here:

Of course, I had to grab lunch at a charming local spot, Cafe on Main. Picture this: three tables of customers, a friendly hostess who makes you feel like family, and everyone chatting about the day’s happenings like a scene from a Hallmark movie. If you are ever in Auburn, Kentucky, stop in and have lunch. Small-town magic in real life made you remember how good simple moments can be.

My 30-Day Journey

December 7th marked 30 days since I began testing peptides, and let me tell you—it’s been a journey worth sharing. I’m a big believer in actual results. That’s why I always take photos before, during, and after. Let’s face it: we look at ourselves in the mirror daily and stop noticing the small changes.

And while social media is flooded with before-and-after shots, we all know filters are often part of the story. But not here. No makeup, no filters—just real people seeing and feeling the results:

Less inflammation.
Smooth, sustained energy.
Inches lost (because the scale doesn’t tell the whole story!)

Here’s my progress—16 days apart. Five pounds down. I’m not chasing speed here, just overall health. I’m walking 2 miles daily, staying consistent, and feeling stronger daily. Want to test it yourself? Here is the link for details:

Give it a 30-day try. Take pictures on Day 1, Day 15, and Day 30. Let’s see what unfolds.

A Quick Word on Safety

I love walking—2 miles a day, whether outside or on the treadmill at the gym. Today was warm enough to get outside (yay!), but as women, we must stay aware and prepared.

I have walked with a small .22 pistol, a taser, a nightstick, and my 120-lb dog. If anything happens, you’ve got 3-5 seconds to respond.

There are no second chances when it comes to your safety. My sister-in-law was attacked a few years ago in a mall parking lot.

She didn’t even have time to shut her car door before he was on top of her. He broke her eye socket, and he could have killed her.

Thankfully, he’s back in prison for life, but it changed everything about how I think about personal safety. That’s why I carry a Soul DefendHER.

It’s the first non-lethal personal protection device with innovative technology. Equipped with Bluetooth, it sends an emergency alert via your phone. I hope I never have to use it, but if I do, I’m ready.  You can check it out here:
