How a baseball mom makes it to the game

Beach Team
This weekend my family have traveled to Fort Walton Florida to the last high school baseball trip. Five days of straight baseball games, fun with friends and memories none of us would trade for anything. As moms that travel with the team we all makes sure everyone one is safe, feed, and where they are suppose to be. Traveling with respectful and well mannered youth makes the trip that much more enjoyable.

As we were dragging our luggage ,the coolers, multiple bags, and the dog into the hotel room, the door had just closed when we heard a tap on the door.
I open the door with my 6’3 son standing at the door dripping wet straight out of the swimming pool with blood running off his nose.

Mom mode jumps in gear and the nurse assessments takes over. “WHAT HAPPEN!!”

He was swimming in the pool and miss judged how close he was to the the wall as he went to do a flip to turn and go back the other direction his face scraped the wall. I grabbed my essential  bag and a Q-Tip to start cleaning to see what was really there. Thank goodness it had just scrapped the top layer of skin off his nose and forehead. Which bleeds like it is much worse than it is. His eyes was already starting to turn black and the pain started thumping. I applied an oil to soothe the burn and cleanse the cuts, and bruises. Along with an application of to clean the cut, and scrape. The blood stopped quickly for extra protection an added an oil under the eye to help prevent bruising.

That afternoon we cleaned the area with the same process and the next morning before the game. After two days  he looked pretty good and NO BLACK eyes! As a young man on the beach it was quiet a conversation starter. (Wink) The boys played a amazing game and won 6-1 with a very young pitcher. With lots to celebrate and the Kentucky – Louisville game about to start one of the parents walked in without his wife. She had missed her son pitch a great game because she was so sick and could not leave the condo.

I called and ask if she would trust me to come and use essential oils raindrop on her. She said “Anything I fell terrible.”

A a baseball mom with a player who pitches knows how important it is to sit in the stands when your son is standing on the mound. I went down the road to check on the other mom.

Her husband made a trip to the closest Wal Greens to get Epsom salt and sea salt for a hot bath soak. She had a little oil therapy to her spine to help relax her muscles with a heat pack.

It may not have been a pretty as  some would have done but it was applied. After laying under the heat pad to press the oils into her spine. She had a good nights rest after many days of not resting at all.

I was ticked to pink when I got a text message around 8:30am the next morning that read:

“I just want to thank you so much from the bottom of my heart! I never woke up in the night and this morning there are no cramps whatsoever. I am still weak but I will get that back, quickly (I hope). I just wanted to thank you. I didn’t think I was ever going to feel better. ” the best part she made it to the next game!!
Getting that messages and the opportunity like these is what makes me love what I do. I love watching my kids play sports, traveling and when it is combined with truly helping people with my oil bag makes me feel good all over.
