Onboarding Training #5: Reach outs Connecting with people

This series talked about pre-enrollment, enrollment, social media, announcing getting started, and now talking about reach outs.

This activity terrifies people, and it is the one activity that will get you sales. The longer you put it off, your income will show it.

When a new consultant starts creating a safe place to learn, they will build confidence in growing their audience. Having you to lean on and ask questions too will give them the courage to do something new.

Facebook tells me every single day who is having a birthday on the platform, LinkedIn does the same thing.  It takes less than 15 minutes to have a ‘‪Text Replacement’ (on iPhone go to general >keyboard> replacement > need help go to Youtube) set up a message to wish someone a Happy Birthday in your own words.

Please make it a complete sentence or two to generate a conversation. Depending on how extensive your friend list is will depend on how many birthdays are shown each day.

I suggest you open your profile to the public so you can attract new connections. If you choose not to do this, this method will not work for you as efficiently because you will be talking to the same group of people instead of adding new connections.

When someone sends me a friend request, I always look at their profile before I approve of the connection to see if there is something ordinary or possibly a conversation. I don’t add everyone. I don’t hesitate to unfriend someone if I don’t like their content on the profile.

Back to the birthday list – What this does is activates your message box on Facebook and LinkedIn.

Then in 7 days, you scroll back through your messages and ask this question to the ones who replied.

I know this is a random question –  Has anyone ever talked to you about the business side of the XYZ

Yes, I do this over and over and over on my list of 4000 people. The more people you talk to, the more yes you will get.

If they say yes, be very direct about what it is you sell. For me, I would say essential oils. Have you heard of the company?

They will say yes or no. Don’t puke on people. Be direct and have a conversation to see if they are open to learning more information.

If they do not respond, follow up in a few days.

“Hey there – If you’re anything like me, you read your messages when you’re in the middle of doing 50 million things.
I just wanted to check back in about the essential oils.

Are you familiar with them?” (don’t copy and paste this message)

If they don’t respond again, I may disconnect the friendship if we never have a conversation. Most people, not all, respond to their birthday.

If we have had a conversation and I can see they have read the message, I will come back later—30 days or so. I may even leave a funny GIF in the message box to try to get them talking.

If you do this one activity every single day, you will always have fresh people to talk to about your products and business.

Reach-outs will be the blood of your business. You are talking to new people on social media or in person. You get to choose or do both.

When a new consultant starts doing the reach outs on social and doesn’t know how to respond, they can do a screenshot of the message and send it to you to help them tweak the language before responding.

I also have a monthly call for my team to hop on and ask questions to walk through. Typically people will only respond with about five different answers.

The key to making money in network marketing is volume. This means everyone on the team is doing a little bit. No one has to be a master recruiter. However, when you teach these simple steps, you will get duplication that is the most effective for team growth.

When I started network marketing, I had no confidence in recruiting new customers. No one worked with me in the beginning, and I was utterly lost. I had to learn so much on my own that I hope this series will help you not have to go through that.

I started learning from people I followed in the industry; I hired coaches and put what I learned into action. Here is a script book that you can get ideas. I wouldn’t suggest you copy and paste them but get ideas to use your own words.

Come to Facebook and tell me what you learned, what you are using, and how it is going. I would love to hear from you.

👉 Keep the process simple for two reasons – it is easy for them and easy for them to teach (duplication)

If we are not working together or you have not become an essential oil customer now you can, and know what to expect as a brand partner.
