If you are tired of the “home party” style of network marketing, you are not alone. I do not know anyone who is still doing those. I have done a few- and I will never do another one.
They make people feel weird, and they come for snacks and to hang out with friends.
People join or purchase from a ‘feeling’; our job is to help people understand that having a network marketing business is fun, relaxed, and not a nightmare. If you are looking for more customers, you need to show them how your products will benefit them by sharing stories.
There was a fad at one time on Facebook where people had “Facebook Parties” where they went down their friend’s list and invited people who were not interested at all. Most of the time, those invites got blocked. A few people had massive success but didn’t use the parties to build an email list – so the follow-up was impossible.
Using Facebook Live, Instagram live, stories, and reels to get in front of your audience is the technology working online right now. You don’t have to announce when you are going live; you don’t have to bate the feed to get people ready to jump on. You click the red button and start talking.
Be casual, grab a glass of water (wine if that is your thing), be comfy, no special prepping. You don’t have to get dressed up. Talk like it is with one person instead of being on a stage.
Keep the talks under 10 minutes.
You will start losing people around the 6-minute mark, so don’t wait to get moving on the reason for the live.
You can do this with your new consultant together and do a chat about why they got started and what they have learned so far.
This puts the new consultant in front of your audience and theirs, so they are not doing this alone. Remember, our job as the sponsor is to lead the way and show them what is possible.
✔ The new consultant will go live on their page, so the video saves on their profile; you, the sponsor, jump in as their guest.
- Make sure you have good lighting
- In a quiet place
- Have a list of talking points you text over to keep the conversation moving.
Talking Point ideas
- How long were you watching on the sidelines?
- What made you finally decide to jump in?
- What fears or concerns did you have/what changed your mind?
- What’s your goal with this business?
- What’s been your favorite product so far/what are you excited to try?
Keep the conversation as casual as possible. You never want it to sound scripted because people are over those.
The purpose of the live videos is to let people see what you are doing. It may not make a sell, but now people know something new is in the air. Always have a call to action, like ‘hit me up in the DM, and I can tell you more about XYZ.’
According to the direct sales association, 50% of consultants will quit if they don’t make a sale in the first 14 days.
I have found many times I want success for them more than they do. Handholding, in the beginning, is good, but there also have to be boundaries set so they know they need to learn so they can fly.
I had a hard time going live in the beginning. This is why going live with your new consultant will help not just them but you as well. Practice makes it easier – and yes I still get nervous.
Once the live is complete, you can not share it with your stories, reel, and multi-purpose the one piece of content.
👉 Keep the process simple for two reasons – it is easy for them and easy for them to teach (duplication)
Make sure you download a copy of the scripts to give you new ideas for your conversations
