Blogging is Not for the Weak

I am in several groups on Facebook for bloggers. People are asking how to get eyeballs on their content and they have been blogging for less than a year.

Even a good blogger knows that it takes more than a handful of blog post to get eyes on your stuff and readers who are sharing and commenting. If no one is liking and commenting on your post – let’s be honest.

Your content may not be as awesome as you think it is. People love to read good post, entertaining post and no BS post.

One lady made a comment that if she didn’t start getting engagement she was going to quit. I laughed because I wonder who she thinks she is punishing by quitting. If no one knows she is out there the only person she is quitting on is herself.

hat is the only person she should be offended by.

A tough blogger – blogs even if they are not getting comments and shares yet. A true blogger writes and gives VALUE even before people know they are out there on the wild web of bloggers.

A tough blogger doesn’t know how to quit but to keep giving their blog love often and sharing it to the world.

A whiny person will complain that they are not rich from their blog in 30 days.

Develop a strategy to your madness

When I started blogging, my post was a hot mess. It was confusing with no purpose. Attempting to write about things that did not flow well for me as the writer I didn’t need to be shocked with getting little to zero attention.

When I started blogging about how I built a business and the simple tips I used, then I started getting attention.

Set goals with your blog. Who are you talking too? What are you trying to get across to that person and how often will you be blogging.

If you are blogging less than once a week even when you are uninspired to write. Don’t get upset when you get no results from your blog.

A magazine that comes out monthly is scheduled to show up period. People expect the content to be on the magazine shelves. The editor doesn’t just write when they feel like it. It is a commitment.

Blog about what you know

If you are trying to blow smoke about how awesome you are and you have not created content or results from the work you are blogging about. Then stop writing.

Blog about real content. Things you know for sure because you have used them and done the work to get results you are writing about.

Write about a book you have read.
Write about an event you have been too
then tie it all back to your business or you products.

I have blogged since 2010. My blog was a damn ugly mess. The message was a hot mess and the results proved that. As I learned and applied the skills my results shifted.

People like real.

Faking it to you make it is bullshit.

Take people on your journey, share as you learn and grow. If your blog post could be written by anyone you don’t stand out.

I used to worry about offending someone with my writing. I don’t any more. They can read another blog. I am not everyone’s cup of tea – nor do I want to be. Once you learn where and how to find topics for your blog you will have endless and I do mean endless topics to blog about. Until you learn that one tip you will struggle.

Blogging for a purpose.

In one of the Facebook groups a few people spoke about how offended they were when someone used links, affiliate links or talk about a product they have for sale.

The purpose of a blog is to generate leads for your whatever you are selling or provide content to solve a problem for your readers. If you are blogging for fun it is a hobby with no revenue intentions have fun.

If you have a business and you are not using links for your products – I am not sure what your purpose of a blog would be.

Tell your Story

Your story is one that no one can tell but you. It’s not how pretty the blog itself is… it’s the content that brings people back over and over.

You have to understand that there are millions of blogs out on the world wide web. To stand out and to create a community is one of the hardest things you can do. It takes time – content and commitment.

  • Make List
  • Use sub-headlines
  • Add images
  • Focus on a topic
  • Find your own voice
  • Bring your character to your writing. Let me get to know you. Not a robot style writing

Use Less words

Blogging is different than English class. Maybe I knew back in 8th grade when Mrs.White kept telling me how wrong I was on my papers. Blogging is shorter sentences, shorter paragraphs and shorter post. People have the attention span of a goldfish and most are reading this on their phone probably like you are.
