In our comfort zone, there is a sense of familiarity, security, and certainty. When we step outside of our comfort zone, we’re taking a risk of being noticed. Someone reading your blog post or even learning who you are.
I get it – it is not comfortable where the unknown is but there is so much more to offer there than in the comfort of our box.
This weekend I did something I said I wouldn’t do again and that was have an in person live event. We had 18 people in the room, much better than expected. Excited people with pen and paper ready to hear what we had to share.
The other side of the comfort zone
I went along with the company guidelines to have a rally and added in some the company videos. I and the other two speakers realized that is when the energy in the room went down. When we spoke and gave them things in their hand to hold, smell and read they leaned forward and was super interested in the content about the essential oils being shared. We learned that if we were just being us and not some corporate model, people are more interested in you and what you have to share. The moment we let down our hair so to speak the excitement rose to a full level of teaching.
We spend an hour and a half teaching the benefits of essential oil and how to use them properly, we did free scans to see what oils they needed that day and how to use them to get the most out of them.
At the end of the event, they were asked “Did you get value out of this small session? Did you learn something you didn’t know? They all were excited and wanted to know when was the next workshop.
We closed half the room that day and two days after the event closed four more who were super excited they had a plan in place looking for results from their new found knowledge.
The close
My friend Dana and I were discussing the other day that sometimes we can be obese with knowledge as much as obese from food. When we learn and educate but don’t share what we learned we become knowledge obese. Any time you learn something you should be sharing it with others. I am sure you are as guilty as I am on giving back what we know.
That is what we did at this rally – we shared real stories with real local people (no plants), we shared the why’s and how comes to get them started using essential oils.
No glass ceilings
Had I stood on the firm foot I had planted that I would never do another live event. I would have missed meeting these lovely ladies and would have missed changing 7 people’s lives that are excited to shift how they are taking care of themselves. The funny part is we opened the door for the next workshop in April before this event was even closed.
If you are not sure how to use learn essential oils and would like to know more about what we taught at this event click here and watch this 2-minute video.

Great Post!! I agree, a comfort zone can be a dangerous place, especially if you want to grow.
