Education is the key for your business

Tom ‘Big Al’ Schreiber sent out an email the other day that I read several times. It is totally true and insane logic, but we see it is done every single day.

He says where are people getting their education for business:

* Single friends give us marriage advice.
* Broke friends give us financial advice.
* Employees give us business advice.
* Fat friends give us dieting advice.
Maybe we should change where we get our advice.

Where do you get your business advice?

What do new prospects do? They follow their habits for advice.
  1. If they want to know about a movie, they ask their friends what they thought of the movie.
  2. If they want to try a new restaurant, they ask their friends what they thought of the experience.
  3. So naturally, when they want to know about our business opportunity, they ask their friends. Unfortunately, their friends have jobs. Their friends never had a business. They never took risks. And, they were programmed to be careful and just accept what they have.
We need to caution our prospects about where they go for their advice. Their future is at stake. It is funny, but not funny, that people will ask someone for advice that has never built a business. Most people try to build a business on what they know as an employee and not what they know as an entrepreneur.

Education is Key

When you mention to a team member or to a prospect about upcoming training the first thing they ask is… “Is it free?”

In the beginning, I totally get trying to get as much free info as you can but there will quickly come a time you have to step out of the free isle and get paid education.IMG_0151-2This past week we took our son to his third year of college. There is no question in anyone’s mind to go to college it is going to cost money and lots of it. Even with his sports scholarship, there are fees, food, transportation, supplies and the list goes on and on. That is completely excepted as normal. When it is suggested to a business owner get an education for a business they have never built before they start backing up and say they can’t afford it or they are getting advice from someone else who has never built a business.

WOW!

Ray Higdon says: Get to events. IF you are trying to make a lot of money in your business without going to events, unless you are superman or superwoman, I would venture to say that it will never happen. Big decisions are made at events AND you get your belief muscle pumped by seeing others that are creating success.

The only thing you can do as a leader in business is to be the example. People are watching you and your actions will speak loudly than your words. Yes you can the encourager and you can be a leader who is telling people what to do – but you actually doing the work is what they will hear.

In order for my boys to try hard things, they have to see me doing hard things as well. I can’t push them without being the example. The same for my business team.

You can run a business online part time – but you can’t run a business sometimes. Make a decision to learn the best methods and skills from people who have already found success to learn from.
