What is your excuse?

designWhat is your favorite excuse? How fast can you come up with one? I have a personal trainer that I work with every Friday. She pushes me until my arms and legs are total jello. Some days I can barely hold the glass of water to get a sip. She knows I am exhausted but she will still ask. “How are you?” I will comment how I feel and she will ask “Do you have one more?” Do you have another set in you?”

I always …. say yes.

I pay her to push me. I pay her to get me to my next level of fitness. She watches how I work, She watches how I lift and if I can do more. She still always asks. “Do you have more in you?” She can not make me want it – she can only support what I will put into it. She is my best cheerleader. I am the one who makes it happen.

Do you have more in you?

Building a business is not easy. It is an uphill climb with lots of jagged edges. You get frustrated. You get mad. You curse (or I do), slam doors, talk out loud in your workspace to yourself. There are days I close the laptop and walk away.

You will never hear me say “I quit”. NEVER!

I have clients who are in the Marketing Infusion group and what I am teaching them is very new for them. They are hitting struggles with learning new tools, how to use them and they are looking at the business with a new set of eyes.

I can teach people how to have success and get their business set up to run. I can not teach them how to want to have success.

It  would be amazing to have people take their business as serious as I do, but I can not make them want it. There are people that are in coaching that is needy and say they want change but they are not hungry enough to make it happen.

Closed for Vacation

As business owner online or offline. The last thing we want to do is lose eyeballs – AKA – Customers for our business. You have worked hard to get to where you are and then the excuse pops up.

I’m going on vacation, I’ll be back.

Unless you are famous like Nike you are not on vacation from your business. People will keep moving and pass you and your store right up for the one who has the porch light on. You can’t put the sign on the front door (your blog) and leave for weeks at a time and think that people will be there when you get back.

If you are on vacation – your blog will be about your vacation. You can post pictures, videos (google and facebook love those). You don’t stop working… you include it in your trip. That is how people really get to know you and feel connected to you. Take pictures and post them to Instagram. Instagram will send them to Twitter and Facebook with one click. It will take less than 3 minutes of your time. Then use that image on your blog (multi-purpose) where you tell about your trip (even if you are sitting at home chilling with the family)

Your blog is your business. It needs content. People who follow you want updates, not excuses. Allow them to see what you are up too and watch the response change on your blog. It gets really fun when people mention a trip I have been on and how they enjoyed the pictures.

Do you have more in you?

You are either looking for ways to succeed or you will find ways for it to not work. The saddest part is when you step back and don’t give your best or your one more. You are not inspiring someone that is watching you. It is selfish for you not to work on your success because you are robbing others around you who need your story to inspire them.

It is time to get to work. Raise up. Stop giving your business excuses. Someone is waiting on you so they can be inspired to move out of their own box. Boxes are cold, dark, drab, flimsy, unprotected spaces. Do you want your best friend to be in that kind of space?

Live in abundance. You are not reading this by mistake. You read this far because you needed to hear it. Let’s go tell the world you have something amazing to share.

  1. So thankful that even though I was mostly offline for 2 weeks in May, I still took the time to post to my blog and pictures on social media.

Angela – thanks for this reminder. I needed a nudge to continue pursuing my goal of publishing my series of eBooks to share what I have gained from others over the years.

  3. Angela, I love what your trainer asks: “Do you have one more?” This can be applied to almost any job like making just one more call or checking off just one more thing to do on a project. Even when tired, I’ve often gotten a second wind that way.

Thanks, Angela, for reminding us of the “just one more” tactic.

  4. we all have one more… someone needs to remind us to reach within.
Glad you enjoyed the post Randy – Thank you
