If you think that sniffing something can heal you, then you’ve been sniffing something!

Believe me, I was the first person to roll my eyes when someone suggested essential oils could treat a malady of any kind.  Seriously, how could sniffing something do any good beyond possibly give you a headache?

Never mind that precious oils are used all throughout Scripture — that was back then — this is now.

…What kind of logic is that?

Have you ever made a judgment toward something without actually knowing anything about it?  It doesn’t even have to be a “thing” it could be a person, or an idea.

Let me just come right out boldly and tell you something….  I was totally wrong about essential oils.

Just a couple of weeks ago I had my one year anniversary of using essential oils.  As I was sharing that, I thought about why I use them, and the results I had over that last year.  That’s when it hit me,– like smacked-me-upside-the-head hit me!  My family has not seen the doctor in the last year.  I went to the doctor once about a year ago, and we’ve barely even had to see our chiropractor.  Wow.

Okay, so let’s talk about why essential oils work and why sniffing them isn’t completely insane.

Essential oils are distilled from plants.  An essential oil that actually has medicinal qualities, also known as a therapeutic grade essential oil, is distilled at just the right temperature, from plants grown organically, and should meet AFNOR’s chemical profile standard.  Creating a therapeutic grade essential oil is an art and a labor of love.

The biggest reason people do not use essential oils is simply because they have experience (like myself) getting zero results from a lower quality oil.  I had used oils before — since they are recommended for acne (and I tried everything under the sun to get rid of mine) — but they were the cheap oils that you buy at the local health food store.  They did not have any benefit whatsoever.

The other common misconception is that essential oils are only beneficial for their smell.  I was surprised to discover that you can take some internally (ALWAYS ONLY Therapeutic grade oils), and that you can get great results by just applying them topically.

The first time I applied the oils used for Raindrop therapy to myself, I admit, I got a little frightened!  I could literally feel heat all through my body just by applying them to my feet!

When essential oils are applied to people, they carry oxygen into cells and waste products out.  They can cleanse our cellular receptor sites from drugs, petrochemicals and other disruptors.  They can also chelate heavy metals and toxins.

With actions like that, it’s no wonder that we’ve seen the doctor less and less.  I have over 90 bottles of essential oils in our house.  We use them every day.  When I recently had my tooth pulled, I applied frankincense and Thieves to the extraction site to speed the healing and prevent infection.

When the mosquitos bite my daughters, we apply lavender or Purification to hasten the healing and stop the itching.

When I eat something that creates a lot of gas,– I pop a peppermint capsule and feel the relief.

How did I become one of those people?  I never would have guessed it in a million years that I would, but I do love what essential oils have done for my family.
