As you know nurses are the worse patients but I have tried to be good. I drank many ounces of lemon water to stay hydrated with all the drainage and coughing this week. To top it all off Kentucky is in full bloom with beautiful spring flowers and lots of green pollen. My husband black truck has a green over-lay on the hood, which doesn't settle well with him, or the allergy season.
I truly believe that my discomfort and my illness was cut short due to the essential oils that I had on hand. Doctors are not my favorite people to go see on a day off…much less when I am already in a moody irritable state – however – if I have to I will.
The essential oils that I layered on three times a day, I found was my early defense to lessen some of the symptoms.
After spending the day in a in closed classroom with one person who was running a higher fever than he realized, and was coughing over the others in the room without covering his mouth. I knew someone was going to get sick…I was not planning on it being me since March 20th is my birthday – I did not want to be sick for that special day! (Luckily we celebrate all week at our house)
I begin cleaning all the areas this person had sat for the day and running Thieves in the diffuser to kill the germs in the air. That evening when I went home I added thieves to the bottom of my feet and my children so I would not be passing anything to them.
When I woke up on Saturday morning I knew something was wrong. I started taking Inner defense three times a day, adding RC essential oil to my chest, Raven to my spine and lavender over my sinuses that started plugging up. (Nothing like breathing out of your mouth.)
Then the fever kicked in and I just felt bad all over. Before I had time to add peppermint to my feet for the fever I fell asleep on the couch for 5 hours before I woke up. My chest was tight, my nose was plugged and I was hot all over. I took my Thieves diffuser to the bathroom with me and shut the door so I could inhale all I could get in to my lungs. I applied more RC to my chest and raven to my spine. Then took a hot shower to get a full steam inhaled into my bronchial. Since the oils do not wash off with water, it helps push them into the skin with the warm steamy water and I could feel my chest opening up and sinus relaxing to actually breathe through my nose again.
Over the next few days I added oils and steam showers to begin feeling a little more normal. You know after feeling down for a few days it takes time to get back to 100% – with peppermint in one hand and Melrose in the other I am headed back to feeling like me again. It was not what I would call the best birthday to celebrate health wise but as you can see on my facebook wall all the people from around the world made me smile more than you would know with their birthday wishes and images they posted for me.
I do hope that your spring time allergies, colds and hay fever have a line of defense set up to ward off the discomfort it can bring. I do not want to ever be without my essential oils. They have proved to my family more than once they are what our medication cabinets need.
