Why Every Entrepreneur Needs a business mentor

What does mentorship mean to you?

When I was a new nurse any hospital that I worked I was assigned to another person who had worked in the area for a while to show me the ropes. They taught me how to fill out the correct documentation.

The right methods of taking over the medication cart, how to chart in the records, the proper admission process, how to use the computers and so much more.

I needed someone to guide me until I could work on my own and knew what to do.

Business Mentor

When I joined my company I knew nothing about the products, the compensation plan, how to enroll someone new, how to teach someone the simple things about the company.

You need someone to show you the ropes in almost anything you do…ok…in everything you do.

People underestimate what a mentor can so for them and their business. The problem is they are looking at their checkbook looking for the answers. Your checkbook has gotten you to the point you are in now.

You are probably thinking “I don’t have the money.” but when you really look at your spending and what you spend your money on. It is usually there.

Example: A lady who wants to get a business product package for the last 6 months keeps talking about all the reasons she can’t get a package yet. There will always be things that will come up and seem like roadblocks but when you are focused and have a vision you can always see around them especially if you have a mentor.

This lady gets her nails done every two-three weeks and has her hair colored. Both of those items are nice to have but neither will not shift her future or get a business started.

If she took what she spent on those two items alone and invested into getting her business started, getting her nails and hair done would be no problem in the future as she started to grow her business.

4 Ways Having A Mentor Can Change Your Life

  • Mentors Can Help You Get Access to Resources You Need
  • They Can Introduce You to New Ideas
  • They Can Connect You With Amazing Opportunities
  • They Can Support You During Challenging Times

Having a mentor has changed my life. It changed how I look at a business. I have bigger and better ideas because I can see them differently than I do when I am on my own. Before I would look at things from my point of view and not from a business point of view.

I quickly learned that having a mentor that I paid for shortening the process for business growth that I was looking for.

What I have seen happen to many people who quit their business didn’t set themselves up like a business and they didn’t get mentorship from someone who has already walked the path they wanted to go down.

Trying to figure something out you have never done is almost impossible to think bigger than what you can see in front of you.

I was unable to see the business the way I see it now, when I got started. Mentors can help you look at a problem in a new way, or find a solution to a problem that you may not have considered before. Beyond that, a mentor can help broaden your worldview and gain new ideas and experiences.

My favorite part of having a mentor is the people connections that they can connect you too for new friendships which mean new ideas and collaboration.

The people I have met because of business are priceless to me, plus I would have never met them had I not been in business to need a mentor.
