Life is to short to not love what you do

I can’t say this enough… life is to short to not be doing what makes you happy. I know there will be a 100 excuses of “Yeah but…”.

I talked to a passed co-worker this week and literally had flashbacks on how I felt at a job I had worked for over 20 years. Not only could remember how it felt but listening to her describe it in her own words and feeling the same way.

Her words not mine “I feel like I am walking on eggshells every day, there is too much female hormone in one small space. I keep to myself and I no longer feel like I have friends here. The devil is really working

Is it a job or a calling

Many people find themselves trapped in jobs that they do not particularly enjoy or connect with on any level. Maybe you followed the rest of your family into medical or careers they wanted you in when what you really wanted to launch your own business. Whatever the case, it can be disappointing to feel like your job does little other than provide a paycheck.

Having a purpose and feeling like you are contributing to something meaning full is what gives you satisfaction in life.

If you are in just a job that pays the bills your body feels it, every single day. It feel heavy, stressed, tired, nervous energy or like my friend walking on eggshells.

A job

A job provides us all with financial means to pay bills, benefits for health insurance and it has social perks. Working is a way to afford the habits and hobbies we love to do outside of the job.

A Career

Is the same as a job for many of the same reason but it also has opportunities to grow within the company or work space to still be a challenge with goals to meet.

A calling

You wake up enthusiastic and ready to get to work without hesitation. There is a sense of purpose and are willing to work harder and longer than you would be willing at a job. Normally this person feels satisfied and happy about their working situation.

Transform Your Job into a Calling

Very few people can quit a job and continue to live at the same standard of living they have been used too however, you can begin to transition like I did when I left my nursing career until you can or at least have the option if you wanted too.

Not everyone wants to leave their job. Some people want to have the options to not be completely dependant on an employer.

I went to work in a daily robotic motion that left me exhausted at the end of the day. I struggled with headaches, shoulder pain and restless night sleep. That kept me in the chiropractor’s office every single month.

I knew there was something out there for me but I was not sure what it was. I have been around network marketing for many years and had no idea how to make it work or if it was for someone like me.

My profession as a nurse is what brought home the paycheck. I maxed out on opportunities in the hospital I was in. My calling is what I was put on earth to do.

We have an expectation that our calling will be profound. We want to become instant successes, start a business, invent something unique, write a book that impacts thousands. It is all a process.

A calling is the accumulation of a person’s life’s experiences, skills, and passions — all put to work. Of course, we would all like a nicely laid out plan that was easy to follow.

I have found that when I go in the direction I feel is right at the time and find a dead end. The new skill is in the new direction. Just because it is hard or slow doesn’t mean you should quit. The growth of your story is in the journey getting there.

You will never find someone at the top of their game who got there in a straight line.
