Have you ever met a stranger that made you cry?
48 hours ago a little short legged beagle basset hound showed up at my door.
Exhausted to the point he could not keep his eyes open and I laid him in a small bed I had left in the garage from all the cats we had at one time and he fell a sleep immediately.
He was too tired to drink or eat. He wanted to sleep. So he did.
When woke up he had his tail wagger back and his eyes said thank you.
The outside dogs surprising accepted him and never showed any type of aggressive behavior which was so odd for this crew who normally is not happy when a strange animal comes around.
As a family, we all agreed we could not keep him with three dogs and a cat already we had to find him a home. I turned to Facebook and posted pictures and ask for help.
48 hours later no one had claimed him so that lead me to the assumption that someone dropped him and he found his way to our farm. I made a call to the humane society and they said they could scan him for a chip.
Saturday morning came and we picked Buster up on the front porch and his eyes told me this was something that had happened to him before. The wiggle left his tail and he cried. Real tears I am not joking.
I melted.
Buster Beagle
As a business owner who travels quite a bit, my reality knew we can’t handle any more pets and I had to find him a new forever home.
We arrived at the shelter and his eyes looked nervous and my heart was pounding out of my chest. They gave me the paperwork to fill out and my hands were shaking. She scanned him for a chip. No chip found.
I told the young lady working. I will pay for his adoption fees and bring a bag of food to give his new forever home parents if I can do that. The young lady smiled and said YES we can do that. Buster was placed in a kennel (cage) and we head upstairs to get him set up for success to be adopted.
I got back in the car and broke down as if I had just killed him. Crocodile tears rolled, snot dripped and my son asks “mom are you ok?” I said, “No, I’m not”.
We have rescued two dogs and a cat. They have been fixed, fleas and tick repellant, hugs and kisses, and all the food they need. I have a hard time saying no to those little sweet furry eyes when they look at you and ask for love. To make the decesion to take Buster (what we called him and I think he liked it) to the humane society was so very hard for me because someone else chooses to be negligent and dropped him off to make it on his own.
Buster Project Begins
I dropped the post below on Facebook and it went viral!!
The shares kept going and going and people started commenting and posting for Buster looking for him a hero to come and pick him up.
You can donate to the #BusterProject
$50 was donated in seconds of the Buster project going live. I hope to be able to give them some love back for all they do.
Finding a life for those little furbabies that are so full of love that just needs someone to lick and love back.
I have built my business using a blog and social media so the only thing I knew to do to find help was to turn to my followers in the virtual world for help. Not only did they help, they donated, they shared the post over 147 times with 61 comments and messages. My heart was so humbled this little short legged furball who showed up on my back doorstep exhausted was making his sweet eyes warm the heart of people around the state of Kentucky and further.
Why am I blogging about a dog who showed up at my home? What does that have to do with business?
Nothing, but yet everything.
When I started in my home business in 2010 I was looking for $500 extra dollars to be able to support my sons sporting passion. We were traveling all over Kentucky and beyond the trips were expensive. We needed extra cash to do what the boys loved to do. I was not looking to make 6-figures that just happened along the way. Making donations outside our family expenses was not something we could do very easily at that time.
Today when I had to make the decision to take Buster to the humane society I was able to pay it forward to another family who had room in their life for Buster. I paid the fees and a bag of dog food for his new home. 8 years ago I could not have done that. My business has allowed the wealth to be passed forward and good golly it feels so good!!
Buster showed up and taught me something that humbled me to make a decision. I was a nervous wreck and it turned out to be just what I needed to do one again. Just like when I started my business. I was nervous and got started anyway. It has taught me so many things along the way.
Within 2 hours of him being placed in the shelter, I got a Facebook message that a baseball family (how about that) wanted him and had called the shelter to process the papers.
Project Buster was a success, and this time I cried because my business allowed me to find him a home, pay it forward and donate to the shelter. If you can donate – please do. It doesn’t have to be a lot. It is a virtual hug for so many that will wag their tail in gratitude. Donate to the #BusterProject
Buster says, Thank you.
If you are ready for Freedom in your business today is your first step to get clear what it is you are wanting to have in a business. It requires work and new skills to have the Freedom to pay it forward.
