When I was working full time as a nurse, I reached the top of my income bracket according to the pay scale for the state of Kentucky. The last 8 years I was employed (Yes I said 8 years) I did not receive a raise. Even though it was very hush hush that people in the hospital working in the administration were getting raises but not announced.
Working in a area where there is high stress with low or average pay is not something that draws people to the facility to work. The reason people didn’t leave after the 15 year mark was because of the benefits you could get to retire. The competition for the raise was not for the the increased skills or added knowledge but for who you knew.
The day I could retire I put in my noticed the next morning. I wanted to work where I was appreciated not tolerated.
Network Marketing
Network Marketing is a very competitive industry set-up in groups called teams or legs. In my company I need six solid legs that are building a business to rank in the company. Even though we get paid by volume – once you get certain volume across six legs you will get ranks that lead to bigger increase in your commission checks down your lines.
It is a pretty sweet deal to be able to turn on your hustle and get paid on the work you do and not on someone’s evaluation or opinion. I used to hate being called to the office to read and sign an evaluation of what a supervisor I didn’t even work with thought of my work performace.
What I learned from my time as a nurse was how some of the leaders treated the team of nurses who came in to work. It was not appreciation it was demands. (not all the supervisors but a few) It taught me how I never wanted to run my business.
Of course there is no way to make all people happy. This is independent army people can build a business however it works best for them – my job is to be there if they ask for help. My job is to let them know I see the things they are doing. My job is to provide training solutions or events to attend to get the skills needed to grow as big as they wanted to grow.
Celebrate success
This past month of November this team hit a half a million in team volume! (BIG Eyes inserted here). I never dreamed when I took the leap to join this company that I would see that number in volume. However, it showed me that much bigger is on the way. As this team grows I want to let the world know they are awesome and the achievements they have reached are worthy of a shout from the mountain top.

How we treat people and show our appreciation is so important. What none of us want to do is replicate a negative work environment for anyone.
