Today is the 13th day of the blogging challenge for my Social Media Profits Group. It is the beginning of a new habit, starting a daily blog and it made me sit my butt in my chair to think about what I had to say – short and sweet.
I began this challenge to get some new bloggers over the fear of blogging and pressing the submit button – I knew I needed to add more content to my blog as well. I used to blog twice a week and backed off to once a week. That is easy to do and I still put it off to the last minute like everyone else does.
Blogging is how my business got started. I shared stories of being a mental health nurse and some of the things I dealt with as a nurse in a state hospital. Some of the events were down right scarey and blogging helped me vent as my own therapy.
Within a few weeks my blog had readers in other parts of the world that I did not even know had internet. Lots of nurses reading my stories and opening up how they felt the same way I did after a rough night on the units.
It connected around the world, and I never thought it would go that far.
I wrote over a 100 blog post about my nursing experiences and got bored. As I transitioned out of nursing and into business at home once I retired from 25 years of mental health nursing. I no longer wanted to continue to write about dark nights in the hospital so my blogging slacked off a lot. I had writers block on what I should now add to the blog.
I have found that being me and adding my thoughts with topics I am around at the time seem to be working even better.
Blogging is not hard – it is discipline. That is 95% of almost everything you do…. consistency.
That is how I got started blogging for 21 days with the social media profits group and ended up in a 7 day challenge with Seth Godin and @winniekao on Twitter.
