People ask me all the time how can I work with the mentally ill and all those crazy people. I tell them I’ve had the privilege of meeting amazing people that had life experiences that caused them to end up there, where I was able to meet them and take care of them in the middle of their crisis.
We all at one time or another ask ourself “Why am I here. What do I have to offer”
Some of us don’t know what our purpose is yet because we have not finished the mission we are on to fully understand what is next. Where you are now could be building your experiences for the next opportunity.
I am at the cross roads of ending a career that I have enjoyed, hated, learned from, burnt out from, humbled by and became who I am today from all the good and bad it produced. There were days I wanted to quit – and days I could not imagine doing anything else.
I knew this day was coming to retire from nursing so I began making plans for my “what’s next”. In the beginning I didn’t have a clear vision of what that looked like so I told stories about where I had been. In the process, I gave hope and became and opportunity maker for others that realized “Hey I can do that!”
In 25 years of mental health I have met people that had amazing life stories – stories are our life. That becomes your business because that is who you are.
In the last 5 years of business I have met some amazing people across the country – and around the globe. I would like to share some of their stories with you to show you who my business opportunity has introduced to me. Stunning people who amazing life stories – all very different, but yet we all have the same dream of being more of who we are.
As I posted on my facebook wall this week: As entrepreneurs, we feel doubt, fear, vulnerability, insecurity, hesitation and discomfort. The difference between successful entrepreneurs and those who don’t succeed is pushing through these thoughts and feelings every day. If you dismiss them, you stay exactly where you are.
Here are a few amazing people that I have met that thought their failures turned into their opportunity….just like you can.

Patty Kogutek: author of “A Change of Habit” has helped thousands cure their anxiety, living “guilt-free”. Living as a Catholic nun for 7 years, and working her way through a 12 year failed marriage, Patty gathered “7 Secrets to Guilt-Free Living” that gave her the courage and the permission to finally follow her heart putting the expectation of others aside.
Heather Santo: is a 20 year cake decorator turned Wellness Enthusiast who is an absolute foodie and has changed her own life for the better by losing 85lbs. She is also a virtual assistant to help busy entrepreneurs by making their lives easier and healthier.
Verna King – The Amish Rebel: Everyone has a story to tell and each one is unique…. For Verna King, (known by some as the Amish Rebel) it meant to grow up inside of the Amish community. She comes from a large family of ten. She highly values a lot of things from her heritage and loves sharing tools and tips with people who long for empowered lifestyle changes.
Donna Stanley: Some people ask Donna “how did you get started doing this???” Well, as a child, I was a true dog lover, in the sense that I was never taught this by my parents, and they never let us get a dog because my sister had allergies. So I would walk around our neighborhood and visit everyone’s pets, and offer to walk them for free (not even thinking anyone would ever pay you for such a thing!!!???). I was basically, everyone’s FREE pet sitter. My mom always said, “When you have your own place you can have as many dogs as you want!” So that is exactly what I did…I ensured that I will always and forever be surrounded by dogs. Labs to be specific.
As you can see there were opportunities in the NO’s these ladies had early in life. A Nun, A Amish Rebel, Cake decorator, and dog lover – turned a situation into their opportunity.
