There are some weeks that make you sit and stare into space wondering what twilight zone you have arrived in. This week didn’t even have direction signs.
After working in mental health for 25 years you kind of know the process of how things are going to go with the legal system. Sometimes being a nurse is not so cool because you just know something that is hard to explain to someone who has not experienced the situation before.
Everyone seems to like to grab a bowl of popcorn to watch a good drama unfold.
This event made me drop my popcorn.
I was not watching this drama show I was participating in it. We had a family member who needed some mental health care and the first step is getting them to the hospital for evaluation and most of the time it requires the police to do a pickup.
I have always been an advocate for mental health. There are two sides to every single story and everyone needs to be protected and to be heard. When I am in a situation my shoulders are back, my posture is in control, my tone of voice is low and calm. Inside I was shaking. It looks different from a family point of view.
Everything went smooth. He was returned home a little shaken up but cleared for his personal physician. It was a long long day. When I got home late that night I was exhausted. I used my cortisol supplement stress away until I smelled like walking vanilla stick
I thought I was doing ok until…
My oldest son walked up to me to give me a hug and the dam broke. Tears poured. The stress for the family, for the person experiencing the mental shift, the officers involved were amazing, the hospital was a shit show.
Take the time to be grateful for your mind as well as the body that carries you around.
Do you journal?
I have for many years and I am always learning new ways to journal versus writing about your day.
3 is beginning to become my favorite number. There are so many things that work in 3’s. This was a day that was super easy for me to sit down and journal like I was on fire. The gratitude came flying out and the simple things were easy to see.
3 – 3 – 3 for your journal is simple.
For 3 minutes: Write everything you are grateful for.For 3 minutes: Write everything to brag on yourself (yes yourself)For 3 minutes: Write what you have accomplished today.
Do this for 21 days. 21 days creates a habit. 30 days starts creating a shift in your thinking, 90 days other people start seeing a shift in you.
Plus… you get to see, feel and notice your own shift.
Hello Spring…. Let the nose dripping, pollen headaches begin.

I bought two new rocker glider chairs that are smokey black and covered in yellow pollen. I wipe them down daily with Thieves spray just so I am not wearing the pollen when I sit on the back deck.
With the wind blowing and all the pretty little flowers dancing in the spring breeze, the nasal drip is pretty popular in Kentucky.
