2010 I got serious about my business. I was scared and had lots of fear about traveling alone. Meeting people I didn’t know in a big city. I knew I wanted more and had no idea how to really make it grow bigger so I flew to Chicago for a 2-day business training. The network marketing company that I was with was slowly going down the rabbit hole and has since then closed.
I never made a single check with that company and had very few customers. I joined that company with a friend who didn’t stay active very long at all, but I was trying to make it work. My heart wasn’t in it.
I had been with three other network marketing companies at this point. I think the highest check I had made may have been $200 but I never wanted to quit, Network Marketing drew me in I knew there was more.
I sat next to Mary Carter in the business training where we chatted throughout the day. She had lots of essential oils sitting on the table using them all during the day. I had been exposed to essential oils in 1997 but only to one or two oils and really didn’t get how they worked at all. On that day in November 2010 – I joined the company because I wanted something that I could believe in and as a nurse to be able to help people in a much safer way than pushing pills worked for me.
I had no idea that day would start such a journey as this has been.
I changed a page on my blog before I boarded the plane to head home. Nothing fancy, very simple, rather salesey actually. I flipped open my laptop to make a change before boarding at the airport and had a $300 order in my email.
That was pretty impressive.
The journey has had lots of twist and turns, but the best one was the consistency that leads me to retire from my job at 48 after 25 1/2 years with a full pension.
I had lots of fear about retiring since I had a job since I was 14-15 years old. I never worked from home totally depending on my efforts to bring income to the family.
I still had lots to learn about essential oils and business but I was determined to never work outside the home again.
Use Your Fear
This month was a huge! This team reached 10,000 members and new 33 leaders. I never wrote down a goal for my team when I started since I had never made any real money in my business my goal was to just make money. I didn’t see this coming 6 years laters – I thought it was for much bigger people than me. 10,000 families are changed because they now know better and have products in their home that can help their family be healthier. That is a nurses’ dream to provide better health and the option to share good health with others.
